Akia John-McQuilkin (18 years old) is in stable but serious condition after being a victim to a hit-and-run on Monday.
Akia (passenger) who was sleeping in the front passenger seat accompanied by her boyfriend, the driver, were travelling to St. Philip when they were struck on Akia's side by a truck heading toward the city.
“The truck hit her side…. The person turned off the lights and continued driving. They didn’t stop and slow down or anything. They just hit them and kept driving..." said Francois (Akia's stepmother)
